When you decide to hire an asphalt contractor in Denver Colorado, you’ll have a couple questions like "How thick the asphalt should be?” “How long will it hold up if I do a 2 inch asphalt driveway?” we’ll be taking a closer look at asphalt thickness in terms of residential and commercial uses.
What is the driveway or parking lot being used for?
You need to keep in mind the weight of the vehicles that will be using the pavement, the amount of cars that will move in and out the driveway, the type of soil you’re using for a foundation on your asphalt driveway. For example, a residential driveway that is used by your average 2 door car, 2 to 3 inches is more than enough to hold up for a residential driveway, but a busy lot will need 4 inches of compacted asphalt to hold up to all the wear and tear over the years.
Will 2 inches of Asphalt be enough?
Typically residential properties will do just fine with a 2 inch asphalt driveway, but I extremely recommend to make your asphalt driveway at least 3-4 inches for more of a bang for your buck. There a couple reasons I recommend 2-4 inches, first reason, asphalt contractors in Colorado won’t give you a 1 year warrantee due to the possible risks of the asphalt deteriorating. Second reason 4-6 Asphalt driveways can last up to 20 years if sealed every other year, and you do get that years warrantee!
