When to Replace Your Denver Asphalt Driveway?

It doesn't matter if your driveway is made out of concrete or asphalt, your Denver asphalt driveway will age and eventually crack and deteriorate. If you're considering replacing your driveway, you should learn and keep an eye out for signs that your asphalt driveway may need to be replaced, so here are some signs you will need to have in mind before calling your local Denver asphalt companies.

SIGNS THAT YOUR ASPHALT DRIVEWAY NEEDS REPAIRS.

Standing water is one of the signs that indicate you need to replace your driveway. Standing water is caused by poor installation. Chances are the asphalt companies in Denver you called did not do the work properly. If there are significant dips in your driveway or it is sloped in the wrong direction, the water will find a place to go and pool. Depending on the severity of the damaged asphalt, you might need to have the asphalt repaired as a whole to achieve a proper driveway.

Alligator cracks. When the asphalt was not made thick enough and you have repeating traffic daily, your asphalt will start to form longitudinal cracks that are formed along the wheel paths. In order to avoid this problem make sure you ask your Denver asphalt contractor for the optimal thickness for your asphalt, JL Enterprise recommends a minimum of 4 inches.

Missing chunks. Once you see large chunks coming of your driveway, that's a sign that your asphalt needs to be completely replaced. Missing chunks start from large cracks that evolve into alligator cracks, these cracks can rip pieces of your driveway apart, leading to large pot hole and chunks missing. These missing chunks are dangerous for vehicles and small children who may fall and injure themselves.

When Should you sealcoat your driveway?

When it comes to sealcoating your asphalt JL Enterprise recommends you should seal your driveway at least once a year. But if you have just installed a new asphalt driveway you should wait a minimum of 90 days before sealing your driveway.

Resurfacing Your Asphalt Driveway

Sometimes sealcoat does not get the job done. Wide cracks and constant patching indicate that you need to resurface your asphalt. A driveway resurface is when you remove the top layer and replace it with new hot mix asphalt. A brand new installation will last you over a decade if installed correctly. Make sure you do your research before you commit to one of the Denver paving companies. It can save you headaches, and thousands!
